Veterans Fishing Outing

06-11-2022      Veterans Fishing Outing was held today, sponsored by The Thumb Steelheaders  Organization.  There were 54 captains and their crews that donated their time and all expenses so that Veterans could have a free fishing outing in appreciation of their serve to our Country. About 110 Veterans took part.  Many fish were caught with 17 being the best on any one boat.  Area merchants and individuals donated gifts and funds to support the event.  Afterwards a meal was served and many gifts were given to Veterans by drawing names from a bucket.

2022 Memorial Day

05-30-2022        Memorial Day Service and Parade was held with Dennis Essenmacher (VFW) officiating at the cemetery service and Carl Siemen (American Legion) officiating at the Memorial Day Parade service.  Dennis and Carl both spoke of the sacrifices military personnel and their families make to serve our Great Nation.  Paul and Linda Elandt placed the Memorial Wreath at both services.  Mayor Gary Booms said that we should never forget those Veterans who have passed on and those serving their Country right now and we should forever be thankful for their service.  Rev. Bill Wells gave the opening and closing prayer thanking all those and their families who have and are right now serving and prayed that they would return home safely.  He also prayed for guidance for the leadership of our Country.
